DWT Red Bud MX, Buchanan, MI
BRIEF HISTORY
The region's most prestigious amateur events, a stop on the AMA ATV Motocross Championship and Round Six of the AMA Lucas Oil Motocross Championship are held in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Michigan. A state with an affinity for off-road recreational vehicle use, RedBud owns the bragging rights to the highest attended U.S. motocross race year after year. Just the right soil mix, lots of passing and the BIGGEST jump on the circuit (LaRocco's Leap), the track provides for some terribly exciting motocross racing. Definitely a top motocross destination in a region that loves its motorsports.

WHERE TO STAY
Another event seems to be filling the South Bend area hotels. Rooms at hotels north of the track may be easier to find and have better rates that weekend.

HOSPITALS
Lakeland Niles
Niles, MI
Directions: Exit track to the right. Turn left at 2nd traffic light in town (you'll leave Buchanan and drive east toward Niles). Road goes over a bridge over RR tracks. 2nd light after that bridge, hospital is on the left.
Lakeland St. Joseph
St. Joseph, MI
Directions: Exit track to the left. 6.5 miles to the end of Redbud Trail - turn left onto M139/US31. Continue approx. 9 miles (less than a mile past I-94 hwy entrance); turn left at traffic light at Napier Ave. Hospital is on the left after you cross the river.
South Bend Memorial
South Bend, IN
Directions: Exit track to the right. 5 miles to US 12 - turn left. Take US31 south to the first exit - Cleveland Rd. Turn left onto Cleveland Rd. Go thru 6 or 7 traffic lights and turn right onto 933/Bus. 31 south (Comfort Inn/Starbucks/Steak N Shake on the left at this intersection - toll road overpass on the right). Go through several traffic lights. Hospital is on the right, 2 blocks after you cross the river.
ADDITIONAL INFO
Water is available throughout the pits to fill tanks, but no hookups. Flush restroom trailers are available during the day and closed overnight.
Pets must be leashed.
THINGS TO DO
- Notre Dame University - South Bend, IN (20 miles from track)
- Lake Michigan beaches - St. Joseph, MI, New Buffalo, MI and several points in between. Approx. 30 minutes from the track.
- Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer, MI has plenty of parking. Warren Dunes info: www.michigan.org/travel/detail
- There are several wineries in SW Michigan. In fact, there's a Southwest Michigan Wine Trail! Tabor Hill is our favorite and the closest to the track (about 15 minutes). Check out: www.swmighigan.org/wineries and www.taborhill.com.
