AMATEUR RIDERS:

Riders participating in the 2008 ATVA National Motocross Championship may reserve a race number in their classes if they meet the following eligibility requirements.

Riders unable to meet the requirements may use the number of their choice, so long as that number is not reserved and is available at the event.  Riders may be required to change to another number at the event if the number is reserved or is already being used by another competitor.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Beginning January 2, 2008:  Riders who finished in the TOP 10 of their class in the 2007 ATVA National Motocross Championship and had the minimum number of required races (4 events), will be able to reserve a number in that class.  The number may either be the number they earned or a number outside the Top 10.  This does not apply to riders who must advance or change to another class based on age, ability, machine displacement or choice.

Beginning January 15, 2008:  Riders who participated in at least four (4) events in the 2007 national series in the same class, may then request a number. The number cannot be a Top 10 number.

Beginning February 1, 2008:  Riders who do not meet the above requirements for various reasons (i.e., injury) but who met the same requirements in the 2006 series, may submit a request citing the reasons why they did not meet the requirements and requesting a reserved number. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

After 4 rounds in 2008:  Once riders have competed in 4 rounds of the 2008 ATVA National Motocross series, they may request a number.

PRO RIDERS:

The following procedures apply to the AMA ATV Pro MX division.

1. The number one is reserved for the current national champion. If that said rider chooses to use another number, the number one is still reserved.
2. 2008 pro license holders will be allowed to use the same number they participated with in the Pro division during the 2007 season.
3. A rider may change numbers as long as the number is open. The procedure for doing so will be ranked off of the rider’s finishing position in the 2007 season. For example: If a rider that finished 5^th in points wanted to choose the number 100 and it was available that said rider would have precedence over the rider that finished 6^th and so on. Deadline for number changes is 02/01/08 to allow for new license holders to choose their number.
4. New Pro license holders in 2008 will be allowed to use the number they desire if it does not conflict with any current or reserved numbers.
5. Beginning in the year 2009 a rider must have accumulated at least one point in the prior season to be able to keep their current number.
