It's hard to believe that in a little more than a week the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship will be over.  A series that seemed in February to be a long way to the end and now here we are.  Amazingly this year's championships have been even more than most may have bargained for.  As we head into the final round the AMA Pro and Pro Am classes are to be settled in the dust of Dirt Days at Loretta Lynn's Ranch.

Along with the National Championships there is also the North-South Challenge that will be decided in this final round.  The North-South Challenge was designed to be a series within the national championship series to allow riders during these tough economic times an opportunity to race either 5 North or 5 South rounds and then settle the score at Loretta Lynn's so to speak.  The top three will recognized for their efforts and therefore be able to gain a little national recognition on a limited budget and schedule.  If you would like to check the championship points to see where you or someone you follow is standing, click on the results tab at the top of the page.

This week I am already at Loretta Lynn's for the 30th Annual Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by Amsoil and if you think it hot here this year then you are on the right page.  Temps have been way up this year again and it looks like there is no relief in sight.  So as you make your way in you may want to make sure you have a clear path to the creek to stay cool this year.

This year's season finale will offer not only great championship deciding races but also a host of things to do leading up to and during the event.  One thing I would like to remind everyone of as they head to Loretta's this year is that we ask that you do not use your own power washers at your pits.  Power washers and water will be provided at a couple of stations in the pits.  Also note that there are used oil, fuel and coolant containers to dump those liquids into at these same locations.  Please do not dump anything on the ground or in the creek.

I am off to catch the rest of this Fridays Amateur racing here at Loretta Lynn's but before I go a couple of reminders as you get set to head to Dirt Days 2011. Debi Bartosek sent over this message to remind us of the big auction coming up.

88 Live to Ride will be hosting a benefit Auction Saturday evening, August 13th, at Loretta Lynn's ATV Dirt Days.  Proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting their mission, "to advocate and support the protection, education and safety of riders involved in ATV racing events".  This year we've provided, "walking wounded" supplies, free of charge, to the racers and their families; we've initiated and hosted fundraisers for injured riders; provided Eject Helmet Removal System EMT kits to track ambulance crews and provided grants to injured riders/families when needed.

Take a look at what we have so far:

We will be accepting donations until Friday evening, August 12th

The auction will begin following the Parts Unlimited dinner in the big pavilion.  We will be accepting cash, credit card or known check as payment.  Stop in and take a look at what's going up for auction - we're sure you'll find something of interest!  Hope to see you there!!

One other thing that may interest you for the auction is the actual 2011 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship podium backdrop.  How cool would that be hanging in your trophy room?

Another great thing going on is the Youth Contingency Award program that Freida Rozell and a few volunteers have been putting together the last few years. It allows all youth riders attending Dirt Days to win some great prizes.  The even cooler thing about this is that they have basically made it a little festival in a sense.

The youth contingency program is donating a Bell Helmet to be raffled off at Loretta Lynn Dirt Days for Clay Pearson the youth rider who was injured earlier this season at Steel City. Be sure and get your tickets at 88 live to ride or the youth contingency booth.

Wednesday night there will be a host of things to do for the early arrivers like sack races, 3 legged races, wheel barrel races and mini carnival games and prizes for everyone.

Thursday night there will be a Corn hole Tournament. The cost is $5 a person.  Bring your own partner or come down and we will set you up with a partner. Also bring your R C cars and we will have some races with a trophy to the winner.

Friday evening at 5 PM The Annual Pit Vehicle Parade will roll through the pits park ending at the pavilion.  There will also be a trophy awarded to best decorated pit vehicle.  The Youth Contingency Program will begin at 6 pm at the pavilion.

One thing you need to remember as you head into the coming week is to remember to keep hydrated and prepare your body heading into the extreme heat of temps and championships that is Loretta Lynn's.  Till next week, God Bless Your Heart and All Your Vital Organs.
