Washington, Ga. (March 1, 2011) -- Dalton Millican had a great start to the American Motorcycle Association's (AMA) ATV Motocross Championship 2011 series. At the opening event of the season at the new track, in Washington GA, Millican riding his Parts Plus Lucas Oil machine competed in two different classes finding success in both.
Millican competed in four motos had four race start hole-shots and two moto race wins and an overall victory.
Millican began Saturday with a hole-shot in the first moto of the 450A class and finished the moto in the third position.
Moto one of the Production A class started again with Millican pulling the holeshot and then falling back to fourth place when the checker flag fell."I was so upset at myself with how I finished in both of these motos. I just did not push myself as hard as I needed to and that will not happen in the second motos," Millican said.
True to his word, Dalton came out with the holeshot in the second moto of Production A and lead wire-to-wire for the win. This victory gave Millican a second place overall in the Production A class.
Millican began moto two of 450A with the holeshot, eventually winning with a nine second lead over the second place finisher. With this win, Millican was crowned the overall champion of the 450A class.
"After the first motos I knew what I needed to do and I just put my head down and went out there and raced as hard as I could. This is a great way to start the season. I am very proud of how Mike and Nate Walsh and Micah MacDonough set up my bike and it worked flawlessly.
